You guys ever have one of these leak? If so how did you repair....

I was out looking under my car at my drivers side knuckle cuz I was hearing a noise but when I was under there I noticed some fluid streaks on my oil pan. Thought for sure it was oil leaking around the pan because of the pain I had with it back in April putting it back on, but nope it was antifreeze. Followed the streak up and its coming out of this engine plug.
You guys ever have this happen? I'm guessing I will have to drain the antifreeze and get some JB weld or this other sealant stuff I have from Dow chemicals. What say you?

There is sealant you can put in the antifreeze. Try that and then JB Weld it from the outside, if the leaking has stopped.

If that doesn't work, drain and replace the freeze plug.

Thanks for the reply, are you saying to use the jb weld if the sealant works first? Or can you put the jb weld on while its still leaking? Thanks

You need to replace the freeze plug. It will leave you on the side of the road one day or night when it is bad weather rain snow sleet. You get the idea.

This is the best solution. The other one I gave was more of an emergency one.

Yes, pop the old plug out and hammer a new one in.

Stude, drain the antifreeze below the level of the frost plug, take a small chisel or a scewdriver and tap on the edge of the plug to get it to pivot, grab it with a pair of vice grips and pull it out, clean the opening with some emery cloth, apply some silicone to the opening and to the edge of the new frost plug, carefully hammer it straight into the hole with a piece of wood, let it cure a little, refill with antifreeze, done.
The frost plugs are there to pop out if the antifreeze is mostly water that freezes when you drive up to visit Toronto, Canada for the World Series Chanpionship. It is a lot cheaper to replace frost plugs, than the entire block.

Where do I get these plugs from? How do I know what size to get? This plug area is real rusty as you can see in the photo, don't even know what to pull on or where to start at.

Any parts store will have boxes of these ask for casting plugs pr freeze plugs. You Can take the old one in or measure so you can match it up.

Like brave said.
Tap on 1 corner of the plug. Get it to pivot. One side will pop out and 1 side in. Get some pliers and remove the plug. They are made to pop out under lots of pressure.

They also make replacement plugs which look like boat plugs. Put it in. Screw it till it explains and seals. Sometimes easier to install.

I checked online at autozone and they have em for $1.99 and $30 for brass kind. What a difference. Plus I read where fords are odd size plugs.

I am unsure, but I would assume the B3 uses metric frost plugs.
Just install the cheap cad plated steel plugs.
Brass won't rust.
That price must be for a complete engine set.
Does anyone know if the Ford part number is E8BZ-6C057-A?

The cheap ones they have at autozone for $1.99 state that they are 35.21mm and a exact fit for the ford festiva. I'll buy one of these and hope the one I have holds til next weekend.
