  • what is this thing, please help!?

the black box/resistor(?) to the left of the vaccuum advance with the mitsubishi symbol on it.. the part number rubbed off so i couldnt interchange it at work to figure out if i could get another..

the wire broke off it finally after i tried to solder it today and it goes to the coil, its not on any parts look up- i work at oreilly's and looked up everything i could think of distributor related.. it was frayed before and the car would always have a miss to it even after all the ignition upgrades and everything else being new... can some one please tell me what it's called so i can finally order another up.. because it wont even start now.

That capacitor is very important for your radio.
You may order a new one from one of the dealers on Rear Counter, or just go to a junk yard and pull one off any other car. I hate radio static from spark plug wires. Don't you? It has absolutely nothing to do with starting your car.

Here is a great article on Identifying and Preventing Radio Noise

I am almost tempted to buy an MSD Noise Filter Capacitor PN 8830
