Turn Signal Mystery

I recently bought a 1990 Festy that did not run so I decided to rebuild the engine. There were a number of quirks when I got the car, one of them being the turn signal lever hangs limp, so I took off the steering column covers and steering wheel and found a spring and what appeared to be a ball bearing. I found tlout that they go in a bore on the assembly but when I put it there it flies out when you try to use it, as if something is missing. The Haynes manual only covers Aspire levers so I come here to ask if anyone can help me. Album in the link below:

I had one doing that.When i compared to a good one it seemed wore at the pivot point causing to much slop.It didnt appear repairable but worth keeping for parts to repair another.
