Aspire SE ignition fix

Might have posted in another section but am posting in the correct one now.....

Would like to get some help with fixing the ignition on the SE.... Now is it as simple as hooking the wires back together and plugging in the ignition or would that keep the car and starter on 24/7 now that it has been tampered with? I know you can start it with a screwdriver in the mean time until i can get a new ignition with key but I don't want to have to jump wires to start it

I think the ignition is still good just gotta take it apart and see if there is still leftover bits of key in it.... I need the whole piece that you stick the key in to start the car (with the key!).... it was the last owner that messed that up

Oh OK I broke my key off in my 93 rustiva. Somehow I managed to get it out and get a new key made. If I can find a compatable tumbler and switch I will let you know.

I would just tape those wires up as they are and try to use the switch to see if it starts. I do have another ignition, how does $20.00 plus shipping sound? I have no idea what they are worth really. If you call a locksmith to remove part of a broken key they use a small saw blade (usually part of a very small scroll saw blade) and push it in next to the key and turn it towards the key so the teeth bite into the key and then slowly pull it out. It sounds much easier than it is to do.

Ya that sounds great! I unhooked the battery as the radio is also wired to constant power.... I just need to match wires and plug the ignition back in temporarily and start it with a screwdriver and see if this will work and not blow up in my face aka sparks or melted wires
