Tail Light Relay

I am working on the 89 Carby (Chute). There are no tail lights or dash lights. I checked the fuses and all are good. Where is the location of the tail light and instrument panel light relay?

Behind the headlight !! Can't remember what side does what but there hiding under a black rubber boot . I think it's pass side for clearance lights .....

You need this. There is no relay for the tail lights on an 89. Power goes trough HEAD fusible link, then through the combo switch to the TAIL fuse, and then on to tail lights.

Instrument cluster lights go through the dimmer switch.
Remove it and jump the wires (red/white to black) to see if that's the problem.
The instrument lights should come on full strength when you turn the lights on.

I really feel dumb on this one, here's what happened. I checked all the fuses but did not see the empty fuse slot on the lower left of the fuse panel. I plugged in a fuse, turned the lights on and the fuse immediately blew. So there's a short that I need to find.

I suspect that the PO wired something wrong with this super sound system or some of the many, many LED lights that are throughout the car.

Replace the fuse, unplug the rear wiring harness (under the left hand side of the dash) and turn the lights on. If nothing happens then follow the yellow brick road (red/green stripe wire), down the left side, under the carpet, inside the left rear fenderwell. all the way to the back. Good luck.
