    Nah, its just so your fuel pump doesn't have to work so hard. Almost like having a turbo in your fuel tank! Why doesn't someone try boosting the tank to a higher pressure? Lol. Just imagine the possibilities of being able to hook up your turbo's waste-gate to your fuel tank!

      You are correct. The steel tank won't collapse, but the gas will not flow if it's being pulled backwards by vacuum pressure.
      Does anyone know how much gas is returned through the fuel return line?
      Has anyone had it off to check (with the engine running)?
      I am thinking that it is high volume which also heats up the fuel.

        Yes, as much as I love return flow EFI, the volume returned to the tank far, far exceeds what the engine can consume at ful throttle, and does indeed heat the fuel. It's why the OEMs have gone to the more complicated demand system.
