  • Aspire Power steering on a festiva with an Aspire Engine

    gonna put power steering on the Festiva but don't know how to install in the Festiva..... it will be from an Aspire and will be installed on the Festiva with an Aspire engine

    I know I need the power steering unit, all hoses and belt and the rack what else? where to start?

    will be pulling it off this weekend and need to know what is compatible with the festiva body and such and how to install it!

    SOLD! '90 Ford Festiva L Manual look for Narion (or click the username) it's new owner on the forum! - got with 193,xxx miles... now has 193,xxx miles give or take SOLD!

    R.I.P '91 Ford Escort GT w/ bad engine..... stripping for parts then off to the scrapper!

    R.I.P '91 Ford Festiva Manual "Lil Red Rocket" bought brand new in 1991 with ~120 mi... ended with 227,xxx mi.

    R.I.P '94 Ford Aspire Manual "New Blue" got with 150,xxx.... ended with about 200,xxx (it's engine is the .40 engine in my GL)

        No, only a Festiva P/S rack would work.
        I only used the Aspire boot for the universal joint on the rack.

          We are fitting an Aspire power rack to Trash2 (a 1991 Festiva) right now!
          Use the rod ends that match the knuckle / hub assemblies.

            As an aside, this is where I started when it became obvious that the steering needed modifying based on Charlie's racetrack work.
            Got an reman Aspire power rack from a firm in NY when one came available, $195 + $125 core charge + shipping. The cheaper alternative proved to be the power rack from a KIA Rio (late'02 - '05) with the Festiva side rods and pinion coupling installed. Yes, it will require some altered/custom plumbing. But if you already have the Aspire setup, go for it!
