  • 1990 No start after engine pull

I have a 1990 Ford Festiva that I rebuilt the engine on. After I put the rebuilt engine in, it ran rough for 1,000 miles and only got around 25 mpg. At 1,027 miles the front main started puking oil, and rather than try to replace it in the car I pulled the engine and transmission to make it easier. Well I finally got the engine back in only to find out it will not start. I have fuel up to the fuel rail, but not into the cylinders. If I spray starting fluid into the intake manifold the engine will run for 3-5 seconds and then quit so spark and compression is not an issue. I got a known good VAF and tried it but still no start. I triple checked the valve timing when I put the belt on and I did not touch the distributor so I don't think timing is the issue. I'm starting to lean towards bad ECM but maybe someone else has an idea before I shell out any more money for a part I may not need.

I believe he means to switch the supply and return lines.

It worked! But now it has no power so I guess I'll just have to play with some other stuff.
