  • How much oil?

    Hi guys.

Just doing the first oil and filter change.

I don't have an owners manual to tell me how much to put in. I drained 1.5 litres inc filter.

    It's a 1.3 lt engine. 1996 WB Festiva.

What's the volume of oil I need to put in?

    Thanks

    Paul

I use 3 quarts and one bottle of stp with zddp.
Its about 3.2 quarts with filter .

Should be four quarts with filter, then check and add as needed on a level surface.

I have never managed to get 4 quarts in. I think its 3.2 with no filter and 3.4 with. But just pour in 3, fire it up for 10 seconds, wait 10 min for it to drain while you clean up everything then check and add as needed.

I don't know how much it takes. I buy the big container, about a gallon but it's in litres. After putting the car up on ramps and draining the old oil and putting the plug back on I put in 3 litres (I have a 4 liter measuring cup) back the car down off the ramps where it's level and top it up to the fill mark on the dipstick. I figure backing it down of the ramps lets the oil circulate enough to fill the filtre so the dip stick measurement is accurate.

              3.6qts w/ filter.
C3P0, if you only got 1.5 out of the pan, you have an issue that needs attention. I recommend you change at 2000 km at least twice to help with the deposits that are surely in the engine. Then start using a THIN stop leak additive (like CD-2) to help recondition the old seals.
