Car dies and Dummy shifter light flicks off/on

So my beloved Festiva was having an issue where it would just die while I was driving it. All the lights on dial would start to blink on and off like a shorted wire. At first I thought it was a bad battery terminal. I replaced those but it kept happening. Finally I put new spark plugs in and it ran great for a while. Now maybe two months later it is doing it again only now just the dummy shifter light starts to blink on and off, the car dies and only starts again on a push start. Changing the plugs didn't help this time. The wires, dizzy, and cap are all about a year and a half old. I was going to try changing the wires next, but does anyone know what could be going on with this thing? It was running really strong before and now it almost seems to be misfiring or something.

Only fires on a push start!?
First impression is ignition switch failing...
Will assume it's an 88/89 manual car as the efi cars don't have the shifter light.

1989 manual. The ignition switch is getting really sticky so I'll replace that and see what happens.
