  • Swapping to Kia Rio Struts

This is not the first time I've done this but am having a problem this time.

I bought new Kia Rio struts and strut mounts from Rockauto. I pulled the old struts off of the Festiva and started swapping over the springs when I noticed that the spring "hat" and the rubber insert in the spring hat do not seem to fit onto the strut as it should. And also when I attempt to tighten the nylon lock nut it will not tighten because the strut shaft turns. Do I need to get the spring hat from a Rio? And the rubber insert?

    Thanks.

I took the Rio struts off a car at the junk yard so they came with the springs and tops and went on the Festiva no problem. Hope that helps.
I took the Rio struts off because they raised up the front end and because they were old and stiff.
Recently replaced the Festiva struts with new Festiva struts from Rock Auto.
