I am stripping a festy for parts 88 4spd weber carb. On the cars I am used to fastest way is disconnect wiring brake lines etc. Undo tops of struts undo mounts boom calipers spindles engine tranny everything on the ground. Undo rear strut tops front beam mounts brake cables and lines rear suspension 1 chunck. Are festys the same?I ve worked in a VW specialty shop since 1985 so I always approach my festy like its a golf or rabbit. Is there a better way on festys?

Fastest way to strip a festy
30 + Vehicle projects right now.7 Festiva/Mazda 10 GM IDK how many others, hope that helps explain all the stupid questions/shortcuts/interchanges etc. trying to liquidate so I concentrate on the good ones. Goal finish 1 amonth using as much stuff as I already have accumulated. -
How I do it: undo as much harness as you can, undo brake hard lines where they meet the soft lines, disconnect heater core hoses and fuel lines and dismount the vac components from the firewall, unmount the rad, remove inner LCA bolts, strut mount nuts, and outer tie rods, remove the cross member bolts and the engine is out. In the rear there are 4 bolts for the fuel tank and the soft brake lines on the body side, remove the strut nuts and then the rear beam mounts. Then the fuel and brake lines can come out as an assembly.Trees aren't kind to me...

The laat festy i stripped had some major rust issues soo i unhooked all the plugs and hoses and bought a big ole package of metal cutting blades from harbor freight and had some fun with my sawzall...very interesting how easy stuff comes apart that way wasnt much holding it together anyhow....more than one way to skin a cat i suppose.
