Cant get an alignment

Man i went to firestone yesterday and they say i cant get an alignment cause theres to much play in the rack and pinion, i just got the car aligned 10000 miles ago and the other firestone shop had no problems.
I got new inner and outer tie rod ends and I think they are just friken lazy to do an align check. How hard is it to change the rack and pinion on these cars?? Where can i get one??

why would you need to change rack in pinion....i have 220k on my R&P and noplay what-so-ever. I changed the tie rods inner/outer.

As for the alignment, park on flat surface take tape measure, measure from center of tire front and back, should be towed out 1/16 of an inch but 1/8 isn't bad either. If its towed in/out more than that loosen your outer tierod end back off the lock nut on the inner and turn accordingly from the inner tierod with a 12mm. I believe 17and18mm loosens the tierod end. Tighten all back up roll car 10 feet forward 10 backward then recheck measurements.
