    Clutch issues

    Well needin some help here folks did a 5 swap not long ago everything has been doing fine until mon of this week now when i take off in first it feels like my clutch is slipping. When i swapped the 5 spd i used all the clutch parts from the 4 spd which has only about 15k miles on it everything looked good and up until mon hasnt felt this way i adjusted the clutch release cable some didnt seem to help, any ideas im not sure whats goin on with it thanks guys, oh stock b3 with a weber carb so no high hp action or anything like that

    Was the pressure plate removed during the swap?

      I will have to check on that i dont know if my mechanic seperated it or not will let u know asap

        Well mechanic said none of that was messed with when he swapped the trans he said all looked good and he didnt touch it, he did say maybe the spring on the top outside of the trans could be a little weaker than my old one but aside from that hes not sure what it could be :/

              Possible stripped gear? Check fluid for metal. 1st and reverse are related, so that makes sense.

                Noooooo thats not what i wanted to hear how hard is that to fix? Is it fixable? I will get the fluid drained and see what comes out, thanks appreciate the info from what i can tell u have the force of a jedi when it comes to knowledge of these little guys!

                    It's not an impossible task but it would involve splitting the case and inserting a new gear set. Easier and cheaper to replace the whole assembly. But as always, diagnose, then repair.

                      Well crapola just got that thing and put it in i have 2 4 spd trans settin could i get my gears from that? Just a thought since the 4 and 5 have the same gears all but 5th or is that just waay more trouble than its worth? Just trying to getr done to save some cash bout out after all the little things ive done lately with the Steve and my three boys sports and hayrides and all thanks again

                        I believe 5th can be pressed onto a 4spd shaft, but would require a press, likely a torch for heat, and your bad 5spd.
                        I haven't had one apart in a few years, so I can't say if any other gears are pressed on that might be used for a custom ratio.

                          Hmm well got it to my mechanic today he drove it and adjusted the pedal release more than i did and he called and said that the shaky feeling is almost gone now.....now im really confused wth is it just the nature of this trans?

                            update have drained and strained the trans fluid very little debris of any kind and no shiny stuff...still confused why it is doing the shaking

                              What would happen if the clutch was removed. I removed mine in my swap and I can't get it to shift into gear.
