  • Fuel gauge reading empty

So I decided to keep my bp festy for a little longer and want to get everything fixed. My fuel gauge does not work. I tested the wires at the sending unit and no power at all back there. Any clue where to start? If any help my temp gauge does not work either.

I'd check the fuse panel by the driver's door although there's probably other stuff on the same circuit.

I'll recheck that. I believe fuse is good but never hurt to double check.

Check the ground for the fuel gauge. Remove the fuel pump access cover under the rear seat. Make sure power is going into the fuel level sender via the yellow wire. Make sure power comes out the fuel level sender through the black wire. The ground is located below the rear hatch striker. You need an EVTM.

Ok. I will check for that ground tomorrow and see what it's doing. I checked all the wires with test light at the sender and I'm getting nothing.

Do NOT use a test light for the sending unit, it's a resistive circuit, not a power circuit. Imagine having power run through the coil and one of the windings break and then arc over...

Test with a DVOM. (Volt/ohm meter)

Yes, that does make a difference. Don't waste your time testing for ground. Both grounds are separate.
Check your METER fuse again. If power is passing the fuse, then the problem is inside the instument cluster (or, hopefuly, just a loose connector to the back of the cluster).

So there is a chance I'm in need of a new cluser? That may have to wait for a bit.

So I do think it's the cluster. I'm getting resistance readings at the sending unit.

Do your blinkers work? I was having the same issue but my blinkers didn't work at the same time and it ended up being that I accidentally unplugged the connector going to the back of the cluster.

Yea. All blinker work. Something funny this morning tho. I believe something is grounding out. If I get on brakes with no lights on my cluster will light up and front parking lights. Once I get off the brake they go out. Everything else on car works like it's supposed to.
