  • Air Condition swap question

    Good people,
I have recently removed an entire working AC system from an 88 Festiva to install in a 90 Festiva that previously had air.I will install the R12 to 134 conversion kit prior to install.Question is: Do I need to do an evac of all the oil still in the compressor before charging the system? What is the correct procedure?
    Thanks for the help.

Not required to remove the old oil, you can use PAG which will mix, but since it's all apart, best to flush the whole thing and start fresh so that all the fluid volumes are correct.
    Trees aren't kind to me...

    currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

Thanks for the reply FestYboy.I honestly know absolutely nothing about Air Conditioning. In my research it seems all Denso AC units use PAG 46 oil.Would you know how much oil to use?perhaps 4oz (120ml).
