Any tips on how to get the top bolt off of starter on manual basic festiva

...I cannot get a open end 14mm wrench on, can't get a boxed 9/16 on that one either. I can get both on the bottom bolt. I'm out in the snow storm trying to pull my starter out. Having the same issues as Timothy. I think its something with my starter. Any help will be appreciated.

I use a long extension and socket. You have to pull up on the water pipe a bit.

Am I on the wrong bolt? I found that the top one a 11/16 will fit on it. Is this normal, the bottom bolt is 9/16 (14mm) the top is 11/16? I don't see how you could ever get a socket on the top bolt, the solenoid is in the way on mine.

Okay, I'm stupid. I was trying to unloosen a bolt to the left of the solenoid top not the 9/16 one further below the solenoid. DUH!! She is out.

I would ditch the standard sizes first off. That's asking for rounded bolt heads. The festiva is a 100% metric car.
