i have a 1989 with 78k miles...will idle all day long but when you drive it..will sputter then die...restarts right away...i even shut the key off then back on once before it coasted to a stop and it kept running...brought to a mechanic they put it on a lift...when it shifts into 3rd it loses spark and injectors...whats wrong with it?

Gut feeling is telling me that there is an electromechanical switch being activated when in 3rd that is back feeding power to the dizzy.
