  • Front end shake-shimmy.

Fixed long term front end shake-shimmy issue. I finally found the right place to take wheels and new tires for mounting and balancing, also got a front end alignment.
Ta daaaaaaaaa. Turned out to be a Sears Auto Repair Center.

I suspect it was the tech, not the shop, that took the extra 5 seconds to truly address the issue and resolve it. I recommend you find out who it was and insist that they work on your car from now on.

A DIY approach can be cheaper and you learn something.

Wait till the tires wear a little and the shake will be back.

I took my Festiva to the local Ford dealer for an alignment a few years ago. I was then told "we can't align your car because we ran out of threads on one side". I had to show them how to align it. I hate dealing with ASE certified mechanics.

Why? They should wear evenly i would think.
My co-worker takes his vehicle to the dealer for everything. They re-balance his tires every oil change, lol. Doesnt shake! Maybe we need to do that on festivas.

I went by the ford dealership to pick up some XT Q5 MS tranny fluid for the roadster. Pulled around back near parts and service and the lil festy got some love. 63hp always surprises folks

As tires wear, their balance changes, because their wear is dynamic.

This one, a 92, just passed 200k miles. I have DIY'd it, and others, up to my eyeballs over the years.

Maybe doing a 10k mile rebalance?
