  • Factory Air Conditioning help wanted

I am in search of the correct accumulator/drier for a 1992 factory air (not dealer) system. I need the part or the number of the part. Any help is appreciated. I am not convinced rockauto has the correct part.

Also, the car does not cool when idling, only when the engine is revved beyond 2000 rpm. Is this the high pressure switch that causes this? I know very little about a/c systems. I tried a fan blowing into the radiator, still will only cool at high rpm.

This is a pic of the old drier still connected and a part that does not fit. The fittings are smaller on the factory part.

    Thanks

You want to verify with an AC manifold, but what you're describing is a compressor failure, or the TXV is hanging open.

As for the drier, you might be able to get adapter fittings... They should be run of the mill metric thread units.
    Trees aren't kind to me...

    currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

Okay, I have compressor, evaporator, expansion valve, and 134 conversion all ready to go in. Once I get the drier figured out I should be in good shape then?

I have a new gpd part number 1411454 receiver/dryer in my hand now. It has the thread size of 14mm and fits the connections on all three of my factory air Festivas.
The ports on this one are set at 90 degrees. From the picture your's looks like 180 degrees (straight through).
I can't be certain because the port thread size is not show in the listing but I think this part (Global Parts 1411401) is the one that will fit.
Try to get the seller to verify that the parts thread sizes are 14mm before you order.
        Here is the link:
        https://www.amazon.com/Global-Parts-...401263&sr=8-26

It says it does not fit Ford Festiva but if it has 14mm size ports, it will.

Ford dehydrator is F0BZ19959A. Motorcraft YL-159. you won't find them anymore but maybe they can cross ref the numbers.

See This... show M14 in and M14 out connectors and mentions Ford Festiva but shows 90 degree connector.

                Factory Air Parts

Have recently received emails about Factory install air and have been doing some more research and this receiver drier has 14mm in and out o ring connections and is straight across.
Four Seasons Part Number 33403. https://www.amazon.com/Four-Seasons-.../dp/B000CZ3474
Says it does not fit Festive but if your old receiver drier is factor installed and straight across connections, it will fit.

If you need 90 degree 14mm connections then the Rockauto Global Parts 1411454 will work.

The Global parts number you for the expansion valve is 3411239.

It is unbelievable how much misinformation is out there about auto AC component parts.

That amazon drier is a good find. Thanks I'm getting one for backup. Just hoping it has the sight glass on top.

Please double check this. One place I found it says the in and out ports are 14mm on Rockauto it says they are not.
Also there was a comment left by some on Amazon saying it was the wrong part.
It also says it does not have a sight glass.

On ebay the same part number says 9/16 inch in and out which is equivalent to 14mm but the threads could be different.

3/8 (equivalent to 9.5 mm) definitely will not fit the MFG install AC)

drier came as advertised in a sealed factory box. shipping was a little steep but these OEM parts are getting hard to find and i don't mind paying for known quality. since the drier/accumulator is the line of defence against moisture and particles in the system i didn't want to trust some $10 Chi Knees can that might just be an empty cylinder or stuffed with Yak wool as a desiccant. this is correct for 90-93 and with sight glass.

so this is the correct drier for a Factory Installed A/C. My car is a 1992

If it is, I'm going to order one.

                              thank you for your time.
