    When my icm in disty was failing it would run till hot then die and not restart till it cooled.

      If you have the tach cluster, with an ICM heating up and cooling down, you may see that when you crank it without starting, the tach doesn't move. When it even "flickers", it is going to crank. I guess that hooking up a tune-up tach would show the same, but I don't know that for sure.

        Sorry...............Its been a while getting back, but here is the update. I replaced the distributor with a rebuilt one and it started right up and has been running great since. It has more power and has been getting great gas mileage. I guess these parts must have been doing a slow death for awhile before they finally went. Thanks to everyone for your assistance and info. I really appreciate the help.
