  • Turn signal issues

my turn signal works just fine, other than it wont stay in the middle of turning left or right, it will sink to blink left while driving and because of this I failed my safety inspection. at first I thought I should just replace the entire switch until I discovered the prices of them, so I am wondering if it is the bushing (pictured below) that seems to have fallen apart recently or something else.
    Thanks in advance.

Yea, that plastic bushing is what attaches the steering wheel to the Turn signal return. I don't know if you can buy it separate or not. How much was being asked for an entire unit?

AFAIK, they can't be had any longer, bit they are prevalent in many Mazda/Ford chassis from the mid 80s to late 90s.
      Trees aren't kind to me...

      currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

If you search online for a part they will often list the cars it will fit. You can then go to a junk yard and look for those cars to get a used one cheap. Good luck.

The piece is called a Turn Signal Cancel Cam. Here is one for an 85 RX7, it looks fairly close, although I make zero guarantees. I may have a spare Festiva one at home I could part with as well.

If someone has a spare one I could see if I could print them out. Don't look to complicated.

Both the cancel cam and the arm that connects the cancel levers would be great to have printed. The cams wear out out the side and the point that go in the steering wheel break off. The arm break apart in the center at the ball bearing and spring contact point. I believe there are two arms of slightly different design but one style may work on both column multi switches... but I don't know for sure.

Yes jimdigs .. these parts would be great pieces to print as there are always breaking.

These two column multi switches have the same number on them 176870 but the one with the white connector and the forked arm has a small 4 following the number, the connectors on the back are identical except one has a white section.
There are differences in the white arm that has the ball bearing and spring pressing on it at the center of the arm as you can see.
The white arm on the one without the 4 is numbered 176524 and the one that is forked is 175825

These are the ones on the 90-93 Festivas

It appears that your cam piece and the arm (non fork type) are both broken. You hand is hiding the piece that housed the spring with the ball bearing behind it. Sometime that housing part gets cracked and broken too.. If that part on you switch is still good and you still have the spring and ball bearing, you can fix yous with the two new parts, but if that part is cracked also, you will need the complete signal arm section. If jimdigs thinks he can print the cam and arm pieces I can remove those two pieces from my switch and let you have them for $10 shipped if you want them.

cancelling cam is still available as a new OEM part. same cam was used in 87-89 tracer and more than likely 86-89 maz 323.

Do you have a part number by chance?
