  • Just a bad alternator

I know I have been posting a lot on here... But I found my issue.

It must be a bad alternator and a bad battery.

I was in line at taco bell today and while the engine was rattling as usual. The car just died. I pushed the car out of the way. It was totally dead. Nothing at the key turn. While I was driving before I got to Taco Bell, the battery charge light was faltering on and off.

The belt I just installed has been doing great! No issues. I know it isn't the belt itself because the engine is staying nice and cool from the water pump. The alternator is spinning just fine... It's just not working.

I'm going to see if I could get the engine working and get my car out of here. Hopefully the alternator stays afloat to get me to my house down the road!

Just find somone that will jump you for 10 or 20 mins that should charge the battery enough to get you home.
Check your MAIN fuseable link on the driver strut tower.
And make sure it's in tack and clean .

Check the two position connector to the alternator. The terminals could be badly corroded.
The only place on a Festiva where a waterproof connector is used, is for the headlight bulb.
Also make sure all your grounds are clean and securely fastened.

My connector is loose and had a roofing nail wedged in to keep it tight, when I bought. It's still there 2.5 years later.
