  • Front Brake Pads?

Been hearing some grinding coming from the front of my 88 Festiva when I put on the brakes. Doesn't grind every time. I'm thinking the pads may need to be replaced. Is it hard to change them? I have limited tools. Or could it be something else since it doesn't grind every time? The car has 140,000 on it and don't know if they have been changed before.

They are very easy to change if your rotors don't need turning. (I have never turned my rotors)

Pull the spring wire that runs through the two mounting pins
Pull the 2 pins out along with the spacer spring
Pull the pads out the top - watch for the slider tabs on each end of the pad, they tend for fall off, they just snap on.
Just remember how everything came out so you can put it back the same way.
There will probably be a shim for each pad, be sure to put these back in with the new pads

To install just reverse the process.
