    what does a coil need to work i gutted all the electronics out of my 88 festive and hooked up the ground on my coil ant the positive to key on power and don't get spark and it's really starting to rattle my sphincter

    The only thing you need to make the coil work is a hot (+) wire connected to the "+" side of the coil along with the black wire with stripe from the distributor. Connect the blue wire from the distributor to the "-" side of the coil. That is the only wire you should have on the "-" side unless you are running a tach. If you are taking your hot wire from the ignition switch, make sure the wire stays hot when in the cranking position.
