  • Kia Pride - Oil Leak?

    Hi from the UK guys!

Keep up the good work, good forum.

I've got a 94 Kia Pride 1.3 as a cheap get to work car.

Its all running OK, except under the carb and on the bulk head there's a lot of oil stains, so much in fact that the inlet manifold has a little oil lake in it!

Cant see that its coming from the valve cover gasket and the oil level is OK and doesnt drop.

I think its spraying up from where the driveshaft enters the diff. Does this sound right? How easy is it to change a driveshaft oil seal, any guides?

Also any guides for cambelt change?

    Thanks in advance

    Rich

pull the axle out and remove the seal, replace the seal and re assemble.

Which side of the firewall is most of the "oil" located? If you have a valve cover leak most of the oil will be on the passenger side of the engine bay. If its a trans axle leak it would be tranny fluid not motor oil. Id bet its the valve cover gasket they are notorious and can sling oil all over.

I guess I should say the right side of the engine bay since you have the right side driver. The valve cover would be easy to replace the halfshaft seal will be more involved. Try easy first.

            Thanks for the advice.

I look a bit more closely, when I get time.
