Is the cigarette lighter centre positive?

I want to hang a solar trickle charger I picked up at a garage sale in a window of the house and hook it up to a cigarette lighter transformer to charge USB devices for free and need to get the polarity right. Thanks.

Correct, the port is switched via the ignition.

You wanting to use this in your house or your car?
Standard is centre positive. Easy to remember if you think of how the fuse is always connected to the centre post and spring.
