Axle install...

As per my fb post, I've tried to install the drivers side axle. When I tried to pull it out again the trans side boot pulled right off the joint!

Can't say I'm understanding this one and don't know if I can just put it back together but feel free to chime in on this. I've got to do the other side and all the shocks in the next couple days.

Was any part of the axle left in the transmission?

Assuming the boot did not tear. You can buy new clamps and put it back on.

If your saying the cv joint came apart. It can be put back together. It is held together by a c clip inside the joint.

Are they new axles or used? I think I saw the FB Post and it looked like old grease inside. If it is old grease in there it would be best to clean it out and replace with new grease before putting everything back together. There are correct tools and bands to use on the CV Axle boot but if all else fails you can use a regular hose clamp as long as it clears the transmission case. There is a chance it may add a slight vibration but probably not noticeable.

People have replaced the bands on boots with nylon cable ties.
