Liquid Wrench in the old days way far better than WD 40 for losening things, Penetrating oil I think it was called, it worked really good and then WD 40 after it was loose.

The best mechanic I know uses WD 40 now and he is my age, he is a true master, he swears by WD 40 so I use that, he considers all factors.

We used to use Commercial CRC for everything.. We called it crud removing crap.. And it would.. It would loosen anything.. This was back in the 70s and we used to buy it in 55gal drums for the shop. Got parts that won't separate? No problem a 5gl bucket of this stuff let the parts soak until lunchtime was over and viola! Hell we used to use it to lube the air tools too!!
