  • Wont start again after I drive it

    Hey guys,
Weird thing is happening, 100% of the time I walk out to my festiva after its sat overnight or even for a few hours it starts right up. But if I drive it somewhere and shut it off It wont start again, itll let me just turn it over as long as I want. But if I leave it for an hour and come back it'll start immediately.

Sure has me scratching my head.

Otherwise runs good, could use a tune maybe.

Intermittent stalling can be a symptom of a deteriorating iginiton control module located inside the distributor in most models. On some it's on the firewall or fender, I don't remember which. It's a small integrated circuit which is senstive to heat. After stalling if you wait for the engine to cool down it will start again, until eventually the circuit is fried and it won't start at all. The modules are pricey. Some people are able to swap in a distrubutor off another car whihc is also a good way to see if that's what's causing the stalling problem. For more info search this forum on ignition control module and ICM.

Carb or injected? Sounds like a bad distributor as in my '93. $25 junkyard distributor got mine going.
'88 Festiva LX 5 speed, A/C, Carb, restored $$$ body paint, badly wrecked @ 200k.
'93 Festiva L, 5 speed, Aqua, bought from the original owner,.Zero rust but very nasty otherwise. Awaits the B6T.
'91 Festiva L, 5 speed, bought to drive while putting the B6T in the '93. now B6ME powered.
