  • Excess Engine Oil

Is there a vent or something in the block where oil can come out if you overfill the pan?

Not in liquid form... It will get pushed past the piston oil rings and pvc valve and then get burned and come out as blue smoke.

My friend Sam's Festiva was doing this and running very sluggish. I drained 8 quarts of oil out of it and refilled it with 3 and it started running fine again.
He had taken it to one of the speedy oil change places and they didn't drain the old oil before adding the new. That was over a year ago and the car is still running fine and still no blue smoke. He had driven it several days like that, apparently with no long term damage.
