  • License plate light fixture -- dead bulb removal

How do I remove a (dead) bulb from a Festy license plate bulb fixture?

Is it push-and-twist or just pull? I don't want to end up with half a bulb stuck inside the fixture!

Photo attached in case you don't recall what these look like.

I've never changed one, but it looks like it just pulls out. I'd get a second opinion though, as I've seen some small push and twist types.

Start with a soaking of thin oil (eg WD-40) to loosen any crud.

"Just pull" worked. No rust found.

I've had this particular 88LX since 2003, so the still-working bulb has been in there for 15 years now. I think I'll replace both of them now, and replace the screws (which were badly rusted) with stainless with lithium grease on the threads, to prevent later problems.
