  • My 88 Festiva runs too cold.

I'm afraid its the head gasket or rings broke or something, it pushes out the first quart of water and then runs with the temp gage just barley above cold.

Compression is 145 on each end and 110 on the middle two cylinders.

I had to bypass the feed hose from the valve cover to the breather or it fills my breather and filter with oil.

I can run and drive with the bypass hose shooting the air and smoke under the car.

Winter is coming here in Minnesota and I need to get the temp up, I changed thermostats and the sending unit, the water just isn't getting hot enough, the heaters are warm but when the weather gets cold it isn't going to work.

I put in a half a bottle of stop leak hoping it will help and ran thirty miles before I shut down.

In the summer I think I could drive endlessly but in the freezing winter here I think it will go all the way down

    Does anybody have any suggestions?
