  • Rear bearing/spindle humming noise

i do not know too much about vehicles and the mechanics of it all.
But here goes.. i Noticed a steady humming noise coming from the rear of the car, that would increase with speed. i was told that it is the bearing. after taking apart the hub and removing the breaks i noticed that the passenger side rear spindle was bent. i replaced it with one from the junkyard($18 for the whole wheel hub). also a new rear wheel bearing gasket from store($9) . now the hum is gone.. would it be important to get the wheels aligned? is there and sort of test anyone would recommend to do? maybe i should not have done such work on a older vehicle...... any comments would be greatly appreciated.

    .................^^......................^^....... ..............^^.............

Please read these , I have no idea what kind of car we are talking about.

Any car if unsure when the last time it was aligned , I would reccomend it .

Alignment is a recomended maintainence procedure
Who knows what it hit to cause a bent spindle.

Generally the real wheels don't need alignment.

Bobby , If it hit something and bent the rear spindle , I would have it checked ,
Alignments are not that much $$ and will make your car more enjoyable to drive .

Front wheel drive cars need rear alignment too , the rear is not always out , but in your case I would have it checked .
