  • Festiva misses

My '89 carbureted Festiva misses at steady speeds and stumbles when taking off. Has new distributor cap, wires, plugs, rotor, and coil. Also has had carb rebuilt. On vacuum guage, it reads 17 at idle. rapidly fluctuates about 1 inch indicating ignition problem. Could it be the distributor itself? Anyone else had this problem?

Change the fuel filter and add a yellow bottle of Heat to a full tank of fuel.

It ended up being the distributor vacuum advance leaking air. Huge vacuum leak. Had to buy entire distributor (can't get advance seperate). Runs and idles great now. I hate to say it, but Festys have crappy distributors. Found several in junkyard all with same problem.
