  • Time for a new Clutch

    Hey guys/girls.

Its time for a new clutch in my Festiva L.

What has everyone else used and had good success with.

The car isn't tricked out, just a little exhause work(good for about .3 hp)lol. I was wondering what you guys have used for clutch replacements. i know spec has some and exedy has one also. i just wanted some advice from the people that have replaced clutches before to find out works well and what doesn't before i spend 200+ dollars on a car that i bought for $118. any info would be wonderful.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dan

eBay has kits for well under a hundred. A common cheap clutch will outlast the car probably even getting after it quite a bit clutches last a long time.

I got mine at Advance Auto for about $100.
Came with clutch, pressure-plate, pilot and throw-out bearings and clutch alignment tool.
Unless you plan to up the HP a lot this clutch seems to hold up well.

Im not planning on doing too much to it. Im going to get the FMS header, and im still debating on the FMS street cam. I just want something that is going to last a while and not have to worry about burning out within 30000 miles. the car has 186000 miles on it and as far as i know it is the origional clutch. The exedy kit looked enticing, then i saw from Spec that they have 2 stages. does anyone have any info on the reliability of these clutches from either company. and if so, how did you like them. 5.0zone, the Beck Arlney kit has gon up quite a bit, its close to the 200 range. for that price i could get one from exedy, spec, etc. And Tom, i have seen the kits on ebay, however im always a little suspicous about ebaying something like that. id rather get that kind of part(s) from the manufacturer. ive ordered things from ebay before for my last car(240sx) but they were little things, not things of this nature. so im kinda spectical about that. any info would be helpful.

Probably gonna have to get it in the next few days, the one in the car is slipping like drag slicks on wet pavement..

You don't want to score that flywheel, better off to park it.

I have a spec stage 1 for the BP car. Nice but maybe too much $$ for a stock festiva.

I used Exedy on the Aspire and seemed to decent quality. I think it was 65 on ebay but I can't remember back that far.

                  r34king:

I bought this one today. I cant attest to its quality yet but I got it at Advanced for $103 with tax. They told me 108.85 before tax on the phone but I took a print out from the Advance web site showing it for $95 so I got it at the lower price.

Its a six piece set. I think you can see their web site on top of the box in the pic

Zoom brand is good , I had several of those in a 4X4.

When I bought mine from Advanced , it was $89.00 plus tax . Complete with everything and the tool , and a 1 year warranty
