Hydraulic rocker arm clearance?

I am re-assembling a Fesiva engine which has hydraulic lash adjusters in the rocker arms. Assembled, they are tight - no clearance between the valve stem and the rocker. That doesn't seem right to me. I would think there should be some clearance that gets closed up under pressure. The Haynes manual doesn't say anything about it.

OK, answered my own question: "Of course there's supposed to be clearance, you idiot!" :-)

Once I'd cleared that up, some solvent and a little gentle squeezing in the vice loosened up the stuck adjusters. All seems correct now.
