  • What happens when...

...the beam below the radiator that the long engine mount bolts to rusts through? Mine is about to rust through - one of the two bolts on the mount is no longer attached to anything.

What will happen? Will the engine drop onto the pavement?

    Regards,

    Tim

The engine is still supported up top on the drivers side. Don't worry it should catch on the radiator before it hits the ground.

Yu may want to have a welder weld in a piece of steel and surecur everything together.

Sounds like something I could do in an hour in metal shop.

How should I support the engine when I undo the remaining bolt? I really don't want the comparatively easy task of welding on a piece of metal to turn into a horrible nightmare.

a cherry picker should do the job pretty easily...pull off the hood and hook the sucker up, give it a little tension and unbolt that sucker.
