  • Engine Trouble

I have a 1986 Festiva with brand new clutch and various parts. One day i was driving home i was going about 70(pretty fast for a stock Festiva)anyway it started "cutting out", my engine made a weird noise and my speed dropped and it did it till i completely stopped for a little. I thought it was an overheating problem, over time, it did it sometimes. Recently its does it whenever i am on a hill or try to go over 30 mph, in any gear. Any input or suggestions are greatly thanked.

well first i would like to congratulate you on being the only owner of a 1986 festiva. it sounds like a problem getting fuel. I'd first replace the fuel filter, on the carbed engines it's located on the driverside of the firewall towards the bottom. if that still doesn't fix it maybe it's your fuel pump.
