I'm rebuilding the engine now, what engine oil should I used? Here in CR the temp is around 77F almost all the time.

A good 10w30 would suit you well.

A 15w40 would keep the engine cleaner, but you'd lose a bit of fuel economy.

          You wouldn't need a 5w.

                  It doesn't matter.

                  Some people say avoid synthetic.

Some people say due to the extreme friction and excess heat that synthetic is better.

                  Yada yada yada.

I'm say throw in some 10w30, change it after 1000. Change it again after 2000. There you go.

IMO, the first few heat cycles are more important after a rebuild than anyone.

Let the engine fully heat up. Let it fully cool down. Repeat about 4 or 5 times. Once upon a time I saw some dyno testing on motorcycles and it showed a big difference in HP between the 5 or so bikes they tested.

My engine was completely ruin, all the job cost around us$1100, I don't know if it is too much or not, The shop haven't give the car yet, because I don't have that amount of money now, Ill have to wait till pay day, New pistons, all bearings, valves, guides, seats , all new gaskets, water seals, paint, plus the reconditioning of the head and block. So what you guys think??? too expensive or not???

thats not to bad 1100 for a complete teardown and rebuild. ive had shops in western missouri try to charge 15-2000 dollars for a rebuild of my gremlin, (straight 6 258, me and dad just looked at them like their stupid because for an engine that is harder to workon and is in a real tight place, they would only charge 1100-1500 lol there somthing wrong. and i priced the parts from where they get their parts from for the motor, wouldnt of costed more than 450 in parts, new everything, lol. so i say thats not a bad price

less than a dollar, here the salary for a mechanic is like us$300 a month

I have also changed the original carb for a toyota 3k carb, fully restored and also had made an adaptor plate for it in aluminum.
