on the way to work today my car was running rough after a wiggled the plug end into the vaf meter it runs well but now the check engine light flashes eight times. what does that mean?

It flashes 8 times while you are driving ??
The flash process of retrieving the code only happens when you cross a few wires .
I have never seen one do that while driving , maybe a loose connection /ground somewhere .

i switched vaf meters last sunday and put the old one back on and drove it for the fist time today and it ran rough but after wigling the plug conector it runs fine now but check engine light flashes eight times.

My green one would come on randomly at least once every 10 miles

try removing the neg cable from the battery and press the brake pedal for 5 seconds or more. this is supposed to clear the check engine light code . 8 flashes is the code for a bad vaf wire but how you got it to flash without initiating the test is puzzling .

i took off the battery cable and it cleared the code.
