  • Aspire Rear wheel bearings

Are they easy to change? Just undo the nut and the drum and hub come off together. Pack and press in new bearings and races and adjust?

What is the torque to seat the bearing and how far do people usually back off the lock nut?

    Thanks

This is what I did: 1-take the wheel off, 2- take the nut cover off, 3- undo the nut and the drum with the bearing will come off, but if they dont, it may be because of the adjustment of the handbrake. be aware the one nut has lefthand threads(sorry and dont who to say this in english).
I tight the nut until the drum doesnt turn, and them back 1/4 of a turn, and your ready to go.

My technique is -I snug it with a pair of channel-locks and back off a 1/8 or so (so the cotter pin lines up with the retainer and spindle hole). Never had any problems using this technique in over 30 years. The most important thing is to keep things clean. Dust and dirt is what typically kills wheel bearings.
