battery could have dead cell...it happens. Is it a maintence free battery or is somehow the water in the cavities low??

I have new batteries from Walmart that go bad like clockwork in 6 mos . in the Caddy , and they are the MAXX 78 .

I have also see a bad alternator ..
The last person that had this same problem , had a new battery and a new/reman alternator , It was a defective alternator !!

Have it checked to see if it is putting out anything .

Yup, bad new parts happen. The day after I bought my Toyota (july 06) it broke down. The battery was replaced. 2 days later it died again, bad alternator. The poor guys at the dealership didn't know what to think: brand new Toyota, pinnacle of reliability, etc.

hook a volt. meter to the battery while it's running, if it's says between 12 - 14 volts the alternator should be good, and it's the battery that would be deffective

i learned that one from a friend of mine who is a 3rd year apprentice for a mechanic

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?
