    I was wanting to know if my car is supposed to have overdrive.
    1989 festiva 1.3L 3-spd auto

      Festiva's with auto trannys never came with overdrive.

        thanks for the info, Another thing is my speedometer isn't hooked up and when I'm going down the road the tac reads 3500 rpms and it sounds like the motor is going to fly apart, how fast am I actually going?

              My 88/89 (can't remember now, been a while), had a 4 speed manual in it, and in fourth geer, on the interstate doing 70 it sounded sorta like the motor was going to "fly apart".

              It didn't have a tach, so I couldn't really check it out. The noise was comparable to if I am doing 60 in 3rd gear in my Cavalier, hard accel of course not cruising. That kinda scares me, but I guess Festivas can take it, huh.

              Come to think of it, that Festy had a larger exhaust pipe than stock, so that made it noticably louder.
              Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.
