my alternator is whining. i want to know if this is bad. its been doing it for as long as i have known the guy that had it before me..which is over a year. it still charges fine and it sounds AWESOME- just like a blower!!! i have people convinced that my festiva is blown. im gonna run it till it goes i just want to know if i need to expect its failure any time soon. thanks!

If your alternator is whining, the bearings are probably on the way out. It could do this for quite a while before finally self destructing. I had one whine for over a year before it finally gave up on me, in the worst place possible.
If I were you, I'd have a back up alternator ready to install. (and then I'd install it)
