  • windshield washer nozzle

I bought a hood at a local junkyard last summer. After installing it I notice that the driver side sprays the fluid over the windshield, while the passenger side works fine, but the opening that lets the fluid out on the drivers side nozzle looks bigger than the other side. It looks to me like a piece is missing or broken. How is the nozzle mounted, and how do you remove it? Do you just pry it off or is there some kind of clip that holds it on?

I don't post that often, when I do its usually for help. (sorry) But I'm collecting parts and hopefully I can get my Festiva looking as good as a lot of yours are, post some pics, and get to one of those Meets and meet with all of you.

It's a clip. It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure you rotate it 90 degrees to pull it out. You might want to wait until somebody else post and confirms this.

As I recall, it has a couple of barbs molded into it which spring out when it's pressed all the way in. You'd need to squeeze them together to get it out.

        a small flat head screwdriver,
pry up from the bottom, with hood raised, then pry down from the top of the nozzle inlet tube opening

i second dave g. 2 barbs can be accessed through the small hole under the nozzle from under the hood. probably be best to depress 1 barb and rock the noz out a little and the get the next barb and remove completely.

here's a question: once you get it out, what's a good way to clean/clear the passages? (my driver's side squirt is weak)

i tried sticking a pin in there to see if there was some grit stuck in there. no improvement. I was THINKING of maybe removing the piece as mentioned above and boiling it in a pot of water or something? Any wisdom to share?

Use a piece of MIG welding wire. The perfect size and stiff enough to get anything blocking it out.
