I have an 89 Festiva with manual seatbelts. The issue i have with them is that they dont retract when you unbuckle them when exiting the vehicle. When your wearing them while driving they seem to have normal tension. Is there a repair for this(new springs, adjustment...) I searched all of the forums for an answer, couldnt find anything.

check the TSBs (technical service bulletins) and discover that the dealers were suppose to repair these on some of the years for no charge. Don't really know how long that will be honored but it maybe worth a try if yours falls into the model/year catagory. www.cartalk.com has a section that is about info. on Used Cars and within that area is I believe a kelly bluebook link. Inside the kelly area you'll find the TSB info.
Hope you can find it and get the dealer to repair it ,
