  • Transmission puked last night

Buzzin along in 5th and noticed an unusual noise.....came up to a corner and couldn't get it in any lower gears. I think it's toast.

I will do a search here about replacing it but if anyone has some things I will want to be aware of please let me know.

    thanks........sammcgee

      is it stuck in gear?

will the stick move at all?

if the shifter moves into other gears but doesn't disengage 5th , the shift gate is broken inside the trans

if the shifter moves, only engaging the odd gears, check the shifter stabilizer rod bushing on the trans

if you can engage any gear but only with the engine off, check clutch and cable

      just some of the causes,

I think it is an LX..........last night I could get it into all gears except reverse. (I never did have 4th though)
I'll play with it some more.
It's not that difficult to swap out a tranny is it?

Anyone watching the Festiva in Minnesota on E-Bay?

              thanks ........sam

ok thanks...........I was under it a while back and everything looked tight and in good working condition but I will check it again. Maybe it's something simple and I won't have to change it.
