I have been trying to rebuild the carburetor on my 89 festiva. after removing the carb, I noticed that some of the screws have been stripped already. apparently someone else has tried to take the carburetor apart. I was able to get out most of the screws but there are three large, standard (flat-head) screws that are recessed in the bottom of the carb that attach the lowest part of the carb to the middle section. two of theses screws have been damaged past the point of removal. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on removing these screws. My only other plan was to just dip both the parts in the gallon of chem dip but I thought this would probably destroy the gaskets between the pieces I cannot take apart due to the recessed screws. any tips/tricks or suggestion would be appreciated.
