Clutch kit

Hey guys i was considering ordering a clutch kit online, well actually i have to, but i need to know what all comes with it. would it come with everything i would need to install the clutch? like the cable, the disc, slip w/e. i was considering buying the one from rockauto.com

Usually they come with a clutch disc, pressure plate, pilot bearing, and throwout bearing.

NAPA sells the disc alone for $32.

thanks man, ill go with the full meal deal and replace the whole clutch setup though. it hasn't had a new one for 15 years, i'd rather be safe than sorry with a new transmission.

is the disc, the pressure plate, throw bearing and pilot bearing, all the pieces that i could fix if there was something wrong witha clutch? i want every single piece that could be wrong with a clutch, replaced.

Aside from the clutch kit, you might want to get the flywheel resurfaced. Otherwise you're replacing every wear item in the clutch assembly.

It is where they turn down the face of the flywheel , give it a new surface , take out the high and hot spots , remove all the warped spots in the face where the clutch disk matches up against it , so it will not shutter when you let out on the clutch , and will extend the life of the new disk .

I would say around $30.00 ,no more than $40.00 , it may be cheaper up there , average labor rate around here is $65 to $70.00 an hour .

what kind of consequences will i be looking at, if i dont re-surface the wheel? i really can't afford anything right now.

I've replaced 3 clutches in three different cars and never had the flywheel resurfaced. Just run your fingers along it and feel for any deep grooves or anything. If it's smooth, then it's fine.
